Martin Mallory's Biography
| Martin Mallory is originally from the town of Blissfield located in Southeast Michigan. He grew up enjoying life in the Midwest with the influences of the agriculture and strong family values. Martin’s undergraduate degree in psychology and social work was earned at Eastern Michigan University in 1985. He worked as Assistant Program Director at a group home for adolescent boys near Detroit before moving to Wilmore Kentucky in 1987 to attend Asbury Theological Seminary. In the winter of the same year, Martin married his wife, Sharon who is from the same hometown in Michigan. Martin earned his Master of Divinity degree from Asbury in 1991. In 1992 he earned his Master of Social Work degree from the University of Kentucky. Martin opened Manna Counseling Service in 1993. Since that time he has served clients with a multitude of issues and has spoken to various groups on a variety of emotional, spiritual and relational issues. In January of 2001, Martin added a second office in Shelbyville Kentucky in cooperation with Living Waters Church.
Martin has played drums for the worship band FireLight since its inception in 1988. Together with his band mates they travel regionally providing worship in conference and seminar settings. Additionally, Martin is a member of the worship team at his church The Great Commission Fellowship in Wilmore. He also serves his church as an Elder and has functioned as Coordinator of Counseling Ministry.
Martin is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and has served as a part time faculty member at Asbury College. He served as a member of the Board of Directors for Ichthus Ministries, Inc. from 1992 until 2007.
In his spare time, Martin enjoys being outdoors. Hiking and fishing are high on his list of favorite recreational activities. |
